Conditioning plants for arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis through DWARF14-LIKE signalling

نویسندگان

چکیده

The evolutionarily ancient α/β hydrolase DWARF14-LIKE (D14L) is indispensable for the perception of beneficial arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi in rhizosphere, and a range developmental processes. Variants D14L recognise natural strigolactones smoke constituent karrikin, both classified as butenolides, additional unknown ligand(s), critical symbiosis development. Recent advances understanding downstream effects signalling include biochemical evidence degradation repressor SMAX1. Indeed, genetic removal rice SMAX1 leads to de-repression programmes simultaneous increase strigolactone production. As are key attraction fungus pathway appears coordinate fungal stimulation root symbiotic competency. Here, we discuss possible integrative roles conditioning plants AM symbiosis.

Development of the arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis.

The arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) symbiosis formed between plant roots and fungi is one of the most widespread symbiotic associations found in plants, yet our understanding of events underlying its development are limited. The recent integration of biochemical, molecular and genetic approaches into analyses of the symbiosis is providing new insights into various aspects of its development. In the...

Arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis for sustainable cultivation of Chinese medicinal plants: a promising research direction.

Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) are symbiotic systems in nature and have great significance in promoting the growth and stress resistance of medicinal plants. During our literature search from the Chinese Scientific Information Database (Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, CNKI) we obtained 65 articles with "AM fungi" and "medicinal plant" as the key words, which indicates that in China, res...

The regulation of arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis by phosphate in pea involves early and systemic signalling events

Most plants form root symbioses with arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi, which provide them with phosphate and other nutrients. High soil phosphate levels are known to affect AM symbiosis negatively, but the underlying mechanisms are not understood. This report describes experimental conditions which triggered a novel mycorrhizal phenotype under high phosphate supply: the interaction between pea...

Mycorrhizal Symbiosis: Ancient Signalling Mechanisms Co-opted

Mycorrhizal root endosymbiosis is an ancient property of land plants. Two parallel studies now provide novel insight into the mechanism driving this interaction and how it is used by other filamentous microbes like pathogenic oomycetes.

Arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis regulates plasma membrane H+-ATPase gene expression in tomato plants.

Regulation by arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis of three tomato plasma membrane H+-ATPase genes (LHA1, LHA2 and LHA4) has been analysed in wild-type and mycorrhiza-defective tomato plants. Expression of these genes was differentially regulated in leaves and roots of both tomato phenotypes after inoculation with Glomus mosseae.
